Makoto Sanda Pens Rental Magica Short Story
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Light novel author Makoto Sanda announced on his official Twitter account on Monday that he is writing a new short story based on his Rental Magica light novel series that centers on the character Ren Nekoyashiki, and is set 10 years after the original story ended.
The short story is titled "Neko Onmyōji - Nekoyashiki Ren no Neko Biyori." Sanda published the six-chapter story with one new chapter a day on Kadokawa's Kakuyomu website starting on Monday. All six chapters are available now to read on the site.

In his post, Sanda wrote that he had not contacted Sneaker Bunko, the series' original publisher, but since Kadokawa held the rights, it "probably wouldn't be wrong" to publish the story on a Kadokawa site.
The Rental Magica light novel series centers on Itsuki Iba, an otherwise normal person who is forced to run the Astral magician dispatch company due to his father's disappearance. Due to his lack of magical ability, he initially finds it difficult to connect with his employees. While running Astral, he must find enough jobs to fulfill his quota and avoid closing down, all while contending with external threats, such as the rival company Goetia, and a Dark Magician's Society.
Sanda serialized the novel series in Kadokawa's The Sneaker light novel magazine before it ceased publication in 2011. Sanda ended the series in April 2013 with the 23rd volume.
A 24-episode television anime adaptation premiered in 2007. Right Stuf released the series on DVD in North America.
