The July issue of Shueisha's Jump X (Jump Kai) magazine announced on Tuesday that the manga adaptation of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag video game will end in the following issue on July 7. The series will be 12 chapters long.
Artist Kendi Oiwa (Welcome to the NHK, Goth, Sugar Dark Umerareta Yami to Shōjo) and novelist Takashi Yano (Sengoku Basara 3: Date Masamune no Shō) launched the manga in the same magazine last August. The story takes place in the Golden Age of Pirates — the 18th century in the Caribbean Sea. The original story follow Edward Kenway as he gets entangled in the ongoing battle between the Templars and the Assassins.
The game itself debuted on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U consoles and on the PC in North America on October 29. The Xbox One and PS4 versions then launched in November.
Oiwa previously adapted Tatsuhiko Takimoto's Welcome to the NHK novel into manga format in 2004. Tokyopop released the manga in North America in 2006-2008. Tokyopop also released Oiwa's one-volume Goth manga based on Otsuichi's novel in 2008.
