Fragrance Company Releasing Sumo-Scented Perfume

What does one of Japan's top athletes smell like? Is it the spring fall of cherry blossoms or the distinct scent of horses and hay? According to fragrance company J-Scent, the smell is more akin to eucalyptus and anise.
The company is releasing its third line of fragrances on July 3 and while yuzu citrus is par for the course, and ramune is only slightly head-turning, a fragrance imitating a sumo wrestler is definitely unique. The perfume is supposed to have a nostalgic feeling reminiscent of incense and combines the previously mentioned scents with violets, heliotrope, patchouli, sandalwood, wood, and musk.
A 50ml bottle costs 3,500 yen (US$31.50). The company's previously released perfumes include hōjicha (a type of green tea), agarwood, wasanbon (a Japanese sugar), hanamizake (wine drank while cherry blossom viewing), kamisekken (paper soap), and French hydrangea.
Professional sumo wrestlers recently integrated anime and manga into their matches. Yutaka Kisenosato selected a Fist of the North Star's silk apron to wear and the design was revealed at a banquet in his honor on May 6. While this is the first time a sumō wrestler has worn an apron with a manga character on it, The Rose of Versailles has been promoted with a sumō banner.
