posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
The French television program toco toco hosts a variety of Japanese artists from bakers to film directors, and asks them to discuss their favorite place in Japan. Previously, the show was limited to those who understood French, but the program's corresponding YouTube channel now offers the episodes with English subtitles.
The series will interview award-winning anime art director Shichirō Kobayashi in its upcoming episode June 15. The episode will debut online on July 1.
Kobayashi started his career in anime art directing in 1966, and he founded the anime art studio Kobayashi Productions in 1968. Kobayashi's extensive anime series credit list includes art direction for Berserk, Nodame Cantabile, Blood+, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Legend of Basara, and Touch. He also worked on the anime films Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, Angel's Egg, and Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer.
The 82-year-old Kobayashi is also attending Japan Expo in Paris in July.
toco toco will also star mangaka or people related to the manga industry in four upcoming episodes between July and September.
