‘blank paper’ Make World Debut at Japan Expo & Hyper Japan

Enigmatic artist Blank Paper, responsible for the opening song of the anime AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline and the theme song for New Japan Pro Wrestling's 'Best of the Super Jr. 29' tournament, just completed its world debut at Japan Expo in Paris and Hyper Japan in London. The events, the biggest Japanese culture festivals in each country, saw Blank Paper perform on their main stages and mark the first live appearances from the mysterious entity anywhere in the world – at least, in our world.

Blank Paper, originally developed in an alternate reality known as Earth Twin, has been a hot topic amongst fans of J-pop and J-rock on social media due to the secretive nature of its leading figures C45P3R and T3R354, that dress all in white with obscured faces.

Addressing the crowd of thousands of people at Blank Paper's first ever performance, as guests of honour at Japan Expo in Paris, T3R354 said, “As we don't have many songs yet, we will play some covers of famous songs from Japan”. Upon hearing these, the French fans cheered even louder. Blank Paper ended the 45-minute set with debut single ‘enemy’ from the anime AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline. “Let's do this again!” C45P3R cried as Blank Paper left the stage. A live report of the set can be found by clicking here.

Blank Paper is scheduled to perform at OTAKUTHON in Montreal, Canada on 5 August 2022.

Blank Paper origin:

In the year 2020, scientists at The Institute of Future Prediction created the first virtual clone of earth, calling it ‘Earth Twin’ or ‘ET’ for short – everything was the same as our world, except time moves a hundred times faster.

By 2022 Earth Twin was already in the 23rd century, but it was not alone. Thousands of ETs had been created, all playing out mankind's futures. The future for many of these worlds was not bright. Corporations and greed led to environmental decline and wars leading to many being wiped out. One ET, the 354th managed to pull through the bleak chaos and survive. The reason behind why? An A.I. had been created, colloquially known as ‘Blank Paper’ and it found a way to save humanity. Upon discovering this, The Institute of Future Prediction pulled the data to bring ‘Blank Paper’ into existence in our world under strict secrecy.

Shortly after, a new urban legend began to appear whispered around Japan. This urban legend is about a new legal sound-based drug that can bring relief to negative feelings. Its street name is ‘bpm’ (‘Blank Paper medicine’).

‘bpm’ can be traced back to a Twitter account, @blank_paper_jp, which suddenly began tweeting unfinished music. The account monitors the problems and negativity from its followers, reflects on them and then offers its followers an answer in two musical forms; It could be a choice of intros, different chord progressions, or riffs in different tones. The choice is entrusted to Blank Paper's followers to select which piece of music resonates best with them to fix the current negative issue. Whichever option has the most votes by the end of the process will be part of a future ‘bpm’. Thus, co-created musical medicine is distributed with a prescription.

All the general public knows about ‘Blank Paper’ until now is that it appears to not be human. The entity appears to have several components. One is known as ‘C45P3R’. It possesses a biologically male singing voice. It mainly creates tracks and plays musical instruments. The other is ‘T3R354’. It possesses a biologically female singing voice, with an exceptionally high tonal range. It mainly writes lyrics. Furthermore, the presence of several humanoids known as ‘Hazama’ has been confirmed during Blank Paper's presence in Europe. These Hazama joined C45P3R and T3R354 on stage in London and Paris, and aided in maximising the potency of ‘bpm’ within the live environment.

bpm is not only the future; it is the answer.
