Young BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ Creators from Around the World Come Together to Champion Diverse and Inclusive Graphic Novel Heroes

Innovation is taking something old and making it new again. The earliest forms of graphic novels and Manga have been around since the 12th century, but global comics and manga publisher Saturday AM asked the question, how can we bring more diversity and inclusivity to something so beloved and established?

Under the leadership of founder, president, and author Frederick L Jones (pictured in the penultimate photo below), diverse comic brand Saturday AM quickly became a leader in the global comics and Manga movement. Jones has championed young creators from around the world like Whyt Manga and JeyOdin who share authentic experiences and understandings of racial and gender dynamics, all the while centering BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ characters in their work.

These creators, generally all under the age of thirty, are connected to readers across the globe and their stories and characters truly reflect a new wave of inclusive storytelling that speaks to young readers of all races, genders, and cultures. Just look at Apple Black author Whyt Manga, who has amassed over 500,000 fans on YouTube alone!
