Actor and singer Eiji Wentz (32) announced on NTV's Kayōbi Surprise program on Tuesday that he will take a year-and-a-half hiatus from his career in Japan beginning at the end of September, as he will begin studying abroad in London in October. He said he will study stage acting while he is there, as it is his dream to perform on a London stage.
Wentz began his career as a model when he was a child. In 2007, he played the title character Kitaro in the live-action Gegege no Kitarō film, for which he won a Rookie of the Year award from the Nippon Academy-Sho Association. He was part of the music duo WaT with Teppei Koike, and he is a regular on Kayōbi Surprise. He voiced Mitsuru Ashikawa in the Brave Story anime movie.
