The official website for the live-action film adaptation of Daruma Matsuura's Kasane manga began streaming a trailer on Friday. The video previews Aimer's theme song "Black Bird."
Tao Tsuchiya (left in picture below) is playing Nina Tanzawa, as well as Kasane with Nina's face. Kyōko Yoshine (right) is playing protagonist Kasane, as well as Nina with Kasane's face. The plot involves the two characters trading faces through the power of a magical tube of lipstick.
Other cast members include: (from left to right in image below)
- Yū Yokoyama as Reita Ugō
- Rei Dan as Sukeyo Fuchi
- Tadanobu Asano as Kingo Habuta
The cast also includes Mariko Tsutsui, Tomoko Ikuta, and Kunio Murai.
Yuichi Sato (live-action Nōnai Poison Berry, Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru) is directing the film, and Tsutomu Kuroiwa (GANTZ:O, One Piece Film Gold, live-action Black Butler) is writing the script.
Kodansha Comics began releasing the manga digitally in English last May. The company describes the story:
Kasane's face is so hideous, you couldn't bear to look twice at her—and her ugliness has forced her to walk a harsh path in life. But her mother left her something: a tube of lipstick. The power of this lipstick will change everything about her downtrodden life.
Matsuura launched the ongoing series in Kodansha's Evening magazine in April 2013 as her debut work, and Kodansha published the 13th compiled volume on April 23. The manga was nominated for the Kodansha Manga Awards and the Manga Taisho Award in 2015.
