Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions Film Gets 4DX Screenings in Fall
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official website of the Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions anime film announced on Friday that theaters in Japan will begin screening the film in 4DX and MX4D this fall.
With the 4DX or MX4D systems, certain theaters have motion seats that move in sync with certain action sequences onscreen. Similarly, effects such as scents, wind, and mist will operate in accordance with the action onscreen. The second Attack on Titan compilation film, the live-action Attack on Titan films, and the Girls und Panzer film all used the same or similar technology in special screenings of the films alongside the conventional screenings, and the upcoming One Piece Film Gold will also get a similar screening. The KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm film also launched its own 4DX and MX4D screenings in June. The upcoming MX4D Kagerou Daze -in a days- film is the first "short movie" in Japan to be produced exclusively with MX4D presentation in mind.
The Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions film opened in Japan on April 23 and will open outside of Japan in early 2017. Satoshi Kuwabara (Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal II) directed the film.
The film opened on 137 screens, ranking #6 and selling 92,396 tickets, earning 133,010,600 yen (about US$1.2 million) in its first weekend. The film eventually earned over 800 million yen (about US$7.5 million).
