1st Kizumonogatari Film to Open in US Theaters

Aniplex of America announced on Thursday that it plans to release the film Kizumonogatari Part 1: Tekketsu in theaters in the United States on February 26, 2016. The company began streaming a second English-subtitled trailer for the film.
The film project is a trilogy, and the first film will open in Japan on January 8, and it is listed with a runtime of 60 minutes. The second film is slated for summer 2016.
Akiyuki Simbo is once again credited as chief director at the anime studio SHAFT. Akio Watanabe and Hideyuki Morioka are designing the characters. Yota Tsuruoka is directing the sound, and Satoru Kousaki is composing the music. Tatsuya Oishi is the director.
Kizumonogatari is the third volume in NisiOisin's Monogatari book series and is a prequel to Bakemonogatari. The novel tells the story of how protagonist Koyomi encounters the female vampire that would turn him and his journey to return to his normal life. North American publisher Vertical released the novel in English this month.
