Ice Blade's Takahashi Launches Zankyō Manga in May
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
This year's 10th issue of Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior magazine will announce on Friday that manga creator Tsutomu Takahashi (Tetsuwan Girl, Skyhigh, Bakuon Rettō) will launch a new series titled Zankyō (Resonance) in the magazine's 11th issue, which Shogakukan will publish on May 8. The manga will have a color opening page, and it will also adorn the issue's cover.
The magazine teases the series, listing the phrase, "This young man's way of life resonates heavily in your own." The announcement also notes that this is the first time Takahashi will serialize a manga series in a Shogakukan publication.
Tokyopop published Takahashi's Jiraishin (Ice Blade) detective action manga as one of the company's first titles in North America. He launched a sequel manga titled Jiraishin diablo in the inaugural issue of Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine in 2008 and concluded it in the magazine's 19th issue. The manga's third and final compiled volume shipped on December 2011. His Skyhigh manga was also adapted into a live-action film in 2003.
