Durarara!! Relay PS Vita Game Inspires Shōjo Manga
posted on by Egan Loo
The November issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Sylph magazine is announcing on Monday that Izuco Fujiya is launching a manga adaptation of the upcoming PS Vita game Durarara!! Relay in the following issue on October 22. The game itself is the second one inspired by Ryohgo Narita and Suzuhito Yasuda's Durarara!! light novels and anime.
The game will tell an original story that was not in the light novel series or the anime. The story is set in Tokyo's Ikebukuro neighborhood in January, when Mikado, Masaomi and Anri face their school's third term opening ceremony. In town, Russia Sushi's Simon hands out leaflets, and Shizuo tosses around vending machines; the usual everyday scenes unfold. At the 60-story cinema, Yuhei Hanejima and Ruri Hijiribe star in the January movie Case Bodyguard 2: Salaryman Ninja Guy, with many people waiting to see it. And every day, Celty handles one assignment after another to deliver items in briefcases.
The game gets its name from the Relay System, which has the player switching characters in every chapter of the game. Kadokawa Games will release the PS Vita adventure title next January.
Fujiya (Kataribe no List) also adapted the earlier PSP game Durarara!! 3way standoff -alley- into manga. That manga ended in August.
