The Legend of Zelda Joins Crypt of the NecroDancer in Cadence of Hyrule Rhythm Action-Adventure Game

posted on by Kim Morrissy

Nintendo announced during the Nindies Showcase Spring 2019 livestream on Wednesday that the Vancouver-based Brace Yourself Games indie game studio will be collaborating with The Legend of Zelda series to create Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Switch. The crossover game will merge the rhythm-based combat of Crypt of the NecroDancer with the world and characters of The Legend of Zelda.

According to Nintendo UK, the game will allow you to play as Cadence, Link, or Zelda and use items and spells from both The Legend of Zelda and the Crypt of the NecroDancer series. The overworld and dungeon maps are randomly generated, and the soundtrack will feature 25 remixed tunes from The Legend of Zelda. The game is slated to release on the Nintendo Switch in spring 2019.

Crypt of the NecroDancer first released on PC in 2015. A Nintendo Switch version was released in 2018. It is a rogue-like dungeon exploration game, with combat inspired by beat-matching rhythm games. The game was developed by programmer Ryan Clark, and the original soundtrack was written by Danny Baranowsky.
