Dragon Ball Space Pod 'Crash Lands' in Tokyo

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Both Japan and the U.S. are preparing for Dragon Ball's return to theaters this winter. Goku soared over Manhattan during Macy's 92nd Thanksgiving Day Parade and publisher Shuiesha is ranking some of the Super Saiyan's best battles according to fan votes.

One invader appears to have crash landed in the Toyosu district of Koto, Tokyo ahead of the Dragon Ball Super: Broly film opening in Japan on December 14. Does this mean Broly is walking the streets of Tokyo somewhere?

The full-scale spaceship appeared at the Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu shopping center on December 4 and has limited functionality. A select number of onlookers can climb aboard and experience the ship's scouter mode, status mode, and radar mode to detect nearby enemies' power levels. The space pod also vibrates and emits smoke.

A reporter for Mainichi Shimbun's Mantan Web climbed inside only to discover their own power level was a measly "10". Staff assured them that some visitors will get a high power level reading.

The pod can be boarded from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. until December 13, presumably when Broly will return to reclaim his pod. Staff are limiting the number of riders to 96 people per day followed by just 72 people on the final day. Riders must have a Yahoo! Japan ID, possibly to ensure you hail from the Planet Vegeta.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly film will open in theaters in the United States and Canada on January 16. Prior to this, the company will hold a dub world premiere at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood on December 13.

Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama is writing the script and designing the characters. Tatsuya Nagamine (One Piece Film Z) is directing the film, Naohiro Shintani is serving as animation director, and Kazuo Ogura is serving as art director. Norihito Sumitomo is composing the music, Rumiko Nagai is the color designer, Naotake Oota is in charge of special effects, and Kai Makino is the CG director. Toei is distributing the film in collaboration with 20th Century Fox.
