64-Year-Old 'Last Boss' Singer Sachiko Kobayashi Returns to the Virtual World with Kizuna Ai
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
64-year-old enka singer Sachiko Kobayashi known for "last boss" level stage costumes, is increasing her online presence in a recent collaboration with YouTube's biggest virtual star Kizuna Ai. Neither Kobayashi or Kizuna Ai shy away from over-the-top collaborations. The enka singer has appeared as a gothic lolita character in a mobile game and performed in the multi-platform video game Phantasy Star Online 2. Meanwhile, Kizuna Ai recently premiered in her own terrestrial TV show and landed a figure deal with Good Smile Company.
The two personalities collided at Nico Nico Chōkaigi where the duo sang Hatsune Miku's "Senbonzakura," with Kobayashi taking on a new form as "Virtual Grandmother."
The video celebrates the launch of Kobayashi's YouTube channel. Her first video garnered 34,000 views so far and her channel currently has 7,200 subscribers. It's pretty far from Kizuna Ai's numbers, but there's plenty of time to catch up!
